Ordinary mills can only grind pepper in the 12-28 mesh size range. The Pepper Cannon can grind from 8 all the way past 60 - coarse enough for stocks and roast beef, and finer than the pre-ground pepper you’ve been forced to buy because your mill wasn’t up for the task. FAQs

Isn’t €199 expensive for a pepper mill?

Yes it is. And a Ferrari is expensive compared to a Volkswagen.

The Pepper Cannon was engineered and built for performance and it performs exceptionally well. We could have made it less expensively, but it wouldn't be the same quality.

Hopefully one day we'll be able to order material in enough quantity to bring the cost within reach of more people, because no one should have to continue grinding pepper the old way.

That said, the Pepper Cannon will never be as inexpensive as ordinary mills because there's nothing ordinary about it.

Why build the pepper cannon?

We were tired of using stale and inferior pre-ground pepper because existing mills are slow, and we were tired of cranking ordinary pepper mills an excessive number of times to get small amounts of inconsistently ground pepper.

Maybe you are tired of those things too.

When you see top chefs using premium mills crank over 60 times for a simple dish, it means there's an opportunity to improve the experience.

Once we started working on the speed problem, it became apparent that other problems like filling, calibrating, and grind quality/range were also fixable.

We've ground pepper one way for so long that we're used to it, but now there's a better option.

Is the pepper cannon REALLY better? What difference does it really make?

For professional cooks it means better food made faster.

For pepper lovers it means finally getting the amount of pepper you want.

It's the difference between using fresh ground and musty pre-ground pepper.

It's using 15 cranks to pepper a side of brisket instead of 150.

It's the ability to get super fine and super coarse pepper from one device, in seconds.

It's the only pepper mill that will prompt you to say "Whoa" when you use it.

Why call it the Pepper Cannon?

Two reasons.

Reason 1: The more comparisons we did between our prototypes and top rated pepper mills, the more it was apparent that there was no comparison. The Pepper Cannon is a different animal, so it gets a different name.

Reason 2: It's difficult to be upset when a product called the "Pepper Cannon" puts out a lot of pepper. With a name like Pepper Cannon, you know exactly what to expect.

But, will there be too much pepper?

No. There will be the exact amount of pepper you want, ground more consistently, in a fraction of the time.

If you want to decrease the output, either crank it less or adjust the pepper cannon to a finer setting.

* Unless you dial the pepper cannon wide open. Then there may be too much pepper. Use your new pepper power wisely

Can I grind salt in my Pepper Cannon?

No, salt will corrode the stainless steel internals eventually.

Does the Pepper Cannon put out a lot of pepper at all settings?

No, the finer the grind, the less pepper comes out.

You can adjust the Pepper Cannon so fine that pepper stops coming out completely.

We call this setting "invisibly fine" or "inert iocane powder".

Why do you endorse the grind & shake method?

Every pepper mill can drop remnants of pepper after grinding when you set it down.

After grinding, give the Pepper Cannon (or any other pepper mill) one shake above whatever you're seasoning before putting it down.

This helps prevent wasting pepper and leaving pepper where you don't want it.

Will I have to refill my Pepper Cannon frequently?

That depends on your use. The Cannon holds a half cup of peppercorns, which is generous but not excessive.

It's best to store peppercorns in a sealed container to prolong freshness, so we opted against a super large reservoir (and corresponding height) that would take home users a long time to empty.

Plus the Pepper Cannon is so easy to refill that it's no longer a chore. Pop the top, pour in fresh peppercorns, and click the top back on. No need to remove, replace, and recalibrate the Pepper Cannon just to refill it.

Will the Pepper Cannon come pre-filled with peppercorns?

The Pepper Cannon will ship empty, but we offer a variety of premium peppercorns you can pair with your new favorite grinder.

Can I grind red peppercorns, and white peppercorns, and green peppercorns, and coffee, and cloves, and fennel, and anise, and coriander in it?

Yes.

You should get one Pepper Cannon for each of those things though, or your coffee will taste extra bold & special.

Is the Pepper Cannon available in different colors? I want one for each spice!

Currently, the Cannon is only available in black. We're looking at methods of differentiating the mills for those have multiples.

You'll probably go through more pepper. Also, the Pepper Cannon grinds more peppercorns at once so it requires more force to turn than ordinary mills at some settings.

Building it out of metal enables us to machine precision parts that fit together with exact tolerances so the results are consistent and fast.

Also, aluminum is the most plentiful metal on Earth, is the easiest to recycle, and can be recycled again and again, indefinitely.

    Pepper is Life

    We love this cannon so much, when we asked ourselves what to get the friends who have it all as a wedding gift, there was only one answer.

    If we won the lottery, a clear sign would be that everyone we know who likes to cook would have one of these on their doorstep. Worth every penny in time/energy/frustration and most of all, flavorless pepper saved.

    Pepper cracking as it should be

    Fresh cracked pepper comes out as abundantly as salt grinders. Game changer! Is and will always be the only pepper grinder in my house. My dad has always complained that pepper should come out faster than salt and that’s it’s so much work/time to get pepper out. So to shut down his lifetime of complains, gifted him one for Father’s Day.

    Grinds pepper and salt without mercy.

    As a machinists and mechanical designer I can appreciate the craftsmanship and thought in these mills. After my second oxo Died in two years (which never really worked well do to too much allowance in the internal components and crappy burrs) I decided to take the plunge and buy something I would appreciate every day .
